Once or twice was enough, but it was all in vain. Time starts to pass, before you know it you’re frozen”
Well, it was fun for the four months it lasted.

Inspired by my new banner for November, I’ve decided to review an album by Crystal Kay. The album is my favourite by her, and one the highlights of 2007 music-wise for me – easily in my top 3 albums from last year! It’s called All Yours, and it was released on June 20th 2007 and it’s GORGEOUS.

The album is very sincere and is quite a laidback. Some people complain it’s too laidback with a lot of ballads but slow songs are what Crystal shines at so I’ve never once complained. Covers are an important part of projects too, and I think you’ll agree that Kuri looks beautiful on the cover. It’s simplicity works, and the text is nice aswell. A lot of the time texts can ruin covers (see Britney’s Circus cover). Here are some of the highlights from the album for me:
こんなに近くで…: This song is amazing, easy as that. A magical mixture of R&B beats and classical instruments, mainly violins, Konna ni Chikaku de is a beautiful song. Kuri’s vocals are better than ever on it aswell. It was released in February 2007 as a single and my favourite of the whole year.
Dream World: I love this song as it’s very different for Crystal with it’s acoustic and latin theme. The guitar riffs are great and it’s video is fabulous so you should definitely check it out!
Escalator: A popular song on the album simply because it’s the most upbeat. (see above), Escalator sounds straight from the US and it’s very agrressive R&B, but not quite hip hop. The lead into the chorus and the chorus itself are extremely catchy.
All Yours was also the first album I bought online. I bought it at YesAsia and I’m so proud to own it!
My Rating: 9/10 or A

My God, that is fucking amazing. And I don’t usually swear! Well I know the cover I’ll be using anyway. Unfortunately I don’t know who created this, so let me say here and now that I’m not taking credit for this amazing fanmade masterpiece of a cover which puts the original to shame. I’m no way near this talented, trust me.
On the topic of Girls Aloud, they’re going to perform their fandabbydosy new song The Promise tomorrow on the X Factor! Well, technically later today, as it’s 12:21am right now. First performance we’ll get to see of it live, anyway!
My Rating: 100% or A+, the fans should be calling the shots and making the covers… see what I did there!
Filed under: Brandy | Tags: BranBran, Brandy, Comeback!, Have You Ever, Moesha, Right Here (Departed), The Boy Is Mine

Okay so I have to admit, up until this year I never really liked Brandy. Well, I didn’t hate her, I just didn’t care about her music. Those days are now over, thank goodness, and I’m never looking back!
For those of you who don’t who Brandy is (yeah, right) most teenage girls will know her for her song Have You Ever, and the majority of people know her as the girl from the show Moesha. Well, if you listened, you’d know she actually has a quite impressive discography! Here is a list of her albums:
- 1994 Brandy
- 1998 Never Say Never
- 2002 Full Moon
- 2004 Afrodisiac
- 2008 Human (Woo!)
Brandy also has a greatest hits, a good place to start listening.
Now I admit, I don’t really like Brandy, the album, as it’s really outdated and her singing isn’t all that great on it. The follow-up Never Say Never took four years to be released, but well worth it, the album is one of my favourite albums on this planet. I actually bought Never Say Never when I was, six? Still hard to believe the album is ten years old, yet I still adore The Boy Is Mine!
After another four years, a common thing for Brandy unfortunately, Full Moon was released – unknown to me. By this time I’d pretty much forgot who Brandy was. I downloaded it way earlier this year and was pleasantly surprised at how much artistic growth the album showed compared to Never Say Never, which I rediscovered at the same time, so it was a double whammy! I love double wammys!
Afrodisiac was released pretty soon after Full Moon by Brandy standards. It mainly featured Timbaland as producer, to my dismay. Turns out Timbaland wasn’t that bad back in 2004. What happened? His music is so dank and dusty nowadays! Anywho, it was a good album – if not a bit slow. Needed more upbeats.
In case you hadn’t already realised, Brandy’s ready to make her comeback with her new album called Human! I’ve never been more excited about a comeback since, well Britney’s one last year, but that disappointed me, so, therefore, whatever.
Back to Brandy now! Human’s been pushed back from November to December for the “finishing touches.” I can’t deny I’m a teency bit saddened. But but but, it’s only a month more, and the album will be improved by then I guess. Plus, we have the second single Long Distance, which I love!, to keep us pleased. It’s such a lovely, heartfelt song! Ballads truly are Brandy’s calling, just listen to Have You Ever.

No, really…

Is this a joke? I guess the girls’ budget hit an all-time low; damn this recession! They’re lucky The Promise is so fantastic or else I’d be totally over this album already.
(Listens to Tangled Up…)

The sad thing is, I still have this single lying around somewhere. Cut me some slack though, I was 9 when this came out! Makes me wonder where the Cheeky Girls are nowadays. Hmm…
My Rating: A Cheeky 10/10

I really hope this single gets to #1 tomorrow; well today seeing as it just past midnight here. If you got no idea what I’m talking about it’s Kumi’s new single called Taboo. That song is quite fantastic and only proves that with a good producer, every old shit artist out there can shovel out a good song. Love you Kuu!
I’ll keep y’all updated.
Edit: #1, yay!

Fierce.
Ignore what the critics are saying. The album is rather spendiferous! I’m feeling the ballads like I Hate This Part, Hush Hush and I’m Done.
And Kimberely’s solo is the best one just because she covered an awesome song.
Ideal Singles:
- When I Grow Up
- Whatcha Think About That
- I Hate This Part
- Elevator
- Out Of This Club
- Hush Hush (?)
That would be amazing.
